KRISTALVLAKTE on at the Fugard Theatre - 29th April to 7th May 2016
From the shreds of the constant drug war, dealer Priscilla is trying to keep her family and life together. The community is bleeding due to the interference of political orders, gang bosses and religious leaders. Sometimes there are waves of peace, as in any good war. But war is like love - it will always find a way out. And while life goes on Priscilla's drug dealings will survive in the backstreets of time.
From the talented pen of Amy Jephta, under mentorship of Tertius Kapp, Kristalvlakte was born. This topical theatre piece is an adaptation of Bertolt Brecht’s ‘Mother Courage und ihre Kinder’.
Kristalvlakte is directed by Mari Borstlap. A unique blend of visual spectacle and outstanding acting, combined with powerful design by Rocco Pool, as well as musical directing by Wilken Calitz, Kristalvlakte reveals the harsh reality of this community.
Kristalvlakte has a star-studded cast: Ilse Klink, Brendon Daniels Roysten Stoffels Bianca Flanders, Tarryn Wyngaard, Dean Smith, Gantane Kusch, Daniel Richards, Ruben Engel, Riaan Visman and Antonio Fischer. Kristalvlakte tells the story of a community much larger than the individual characters.
