Robert Downey Jr. at Comic-Con: Iron Man3!

Robert Downey Jr. and director Jon Favreau are famous in the Comic-Con history books as the duo who presented a showstopping sizzle reel for the first Iron Man movie in 2007.And as Downey Jr. once again steps into the shoes of Tony Stark, he wasn't about to disappoint the thousands of fans who gathered yesterday for a sneak preview of Iron Man 3. Introduced by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, the actor danced into the San Diego Convention Center's massive Hall H dressed in character - a designer suit and sunglasses - hamming it up for the audience before revealing his Iron Man Hand.

'I’ve got three questions,' said Downey Jr. from center stage.

'Question one, how much do I love you? Question two, how much do you love me? Question three, why aren’t we watching any footage yet?'

The footage began with Tony Stark in his lab running tests with his manservant Jarvis. With a verbal gesture to Jarvis, pieces of the suit fly at Tony one by one. Up next was a Skype video chat between Stark and Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau), who it's revealed is no longer Tony's head of security.

The footage then picked up with a collage of action visuals, including what looks to be a devastated Hollywood. Pepper Potts (Gwenyth Paltrow) is seen with Iron Man inside Tony's seaside mansion when an attack helicopter fires missiles and completely destroys it. Fans also got a glimpse of Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian, Rebecca Hall as Maya Hansen and Don Cheadle back as Rhodey/War Machine. The big reveal was Sir Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin.

After the teaser, Downey Jr. was joined for a panel discussion by Favreau, Cheadle and Shane Black, who has taken over directing duties from Jon Favreau. Downey was asked a question on many fans' minds: whether he would do another Iron Man film now that his contract with Marvel is up.'Here’s what I know,' says Downey Jr. 'My deal runs out after we do Iron Man 3 and then we’re going to figure out exactly what Brinks truck we want to continue.''The future is uncertain. I’m super happy. This has just been an amazing journey.' Iron Man 3 is due for release in May next year.
