That's the headline and I'm sticking to it!
It's quite simple to write a review of an establishment titled "Africa's Premium Comedy Club", but in all honesty this place is so much more than just a comedy club and here's why.
- It's KAK cool
- It's KAK funny
- It's KAK mooi
- It's not KAK expensive
- It's just not KAK!
- And the Vibe is KAK lekker!
During the planning phase of my
#JoziTakeOver campaign, I made a note to check out the local comedy scene and with all the comedy that Johannesburg has to offer, I decided that
Goliath Comedy Club would have to be the place to check out. In the short space of time since opening it's doors on the 29 April, it has gone on to make quite the name for itself in the comedy industry. I mean if you haven't heard the name
Goliath and Goliath by now, then under what rock have you been hiding?
The name Goliath is
HUGE in the South African Comedy circle and the mere fact that
Goliath Comedy Club caught my interest down in Cape Town speaks volumes, and if that's the case then it must be worth all the hype to check it out. And I was right!

The venue is world-class, everything is of a high standard. The bar, the food and the staff, I commend you guys. We were warmly greeted, escorted to our seats and treated with the utmost respect by our waiter for the evening. Food is served from the Roast Cafe which operates daily from 7am to 10pm. The Cigar Lounge is a must to see if you enjoy an occasional cigar (
or a gwaai/entjie). Now enough about the establishment, lets talk about comedy. The club boasts some of the best lineups in the country with the Goliath entourage making appearances on stage as well. One thing about the show I particularly loved was the multimedia wall. It get the audience to interact with the act. Changing colours as to indicate when the comedians time has come to an end and encouraging the audience to applaud for the next act. Now that's forward thinking. The comedians can converse well with the audience as well as everyone is within relevant distance from the stage, which is quite cool. I had an absolute blast (
JAS TIME) and cannot wait to go back again.

Jason Goliath approved the use of the headline and went as far as saying, "
