About the event:

Summer is the time for Sunshine, House Music, Yacht & Rooftop parties.

We are doing it all over again on the 7th November.
Starting with a pre-party on the Luxury Yacht, in the late afternoon, followed by a Rooftop Party in the evening.

The Yacht will leave the Waterfront for a 2hr sunset cruise, at 15h00, with DJ's, a thumping sound system and a fully stocked cash bar on board.
Departing from the harbour and cruising through Clifton and Camps bay, before returning to the Waterfront at 17h00.

Once returning from sea, you will take a short 5min walk across the Waterfront and up onto the TouchBass Clocktower Rooftop venue, which overlooks the harbour, and has beautiful views of the ocean, where the party will continue for the rest of the evening. 

*Space on board the yacht for the pre-party is limited to 140 people and tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis.

It is not thought that music existed on Earth until early Man developed, aside from the natural rhythms and melodies made by the workings of the cosmos, of course. And although the Earth-shaking growls of some of the dinosaurs were quite bassy, such sounds could not really be considered music in any traditional sense. Then humans came along and started warbling, tapping hollow logs and drumming on their spouse's heads, and with this, intentional music was born. However, prehistoric man was not quite intelligent enough to grasp the complex subtleties of the bass, so it was not something they paid much in mind. In fact, their music didn't really get past the "hitting things with sticks" stage for several thousand years, when the first ancient civilisations started to develop. Although historians believe some of the fatter people they beat may have made sounds that could be approximated to bass. These days the sweet sound of bass has found a home in the Cape Town House scene and with Events such as TouchBass around the bass will continue to grow through the ages!

This time round the event will feature 2 Dance floors, each showcasing different generations of Djing and Sound. I remember attending a winter edition of this event last year and it served up some good and bad memories but mostly all good. It was probably the last time I really partied with good ol' Lallo so it would definitely go down as a fond time.

This year I'm seriously looking forward to the vinyl floor addition, which should serve up a delightful sound of raw crackling of which the likes of the digital sound just cannot match (my own opinion), don't get me wrong I love the new school sound but like they say, "There's no school like old school".


In saying that you can find me frequenting both dance floors on the evening as I cannot be selfish and deprive my ears to the pleasure of all things HOUSE MUSIC!

Yes that's right folks the team that brought us those memorable Funky Buddha nights are back!

Funky Buddha was always a huge highlight for any house head in Cape Town and as for myself every month end had a special silver lining because you knew that Funky Buddha was about to go down.

As they have mentioned on their Facebook event page, the team have been enjoying the changes in the house scene in and around Cape Town, they have played at a few events but according to them it was time to BRING BACK THE NIGHT.

When Jack said, "Let there be house!" that must of been the day I was reborn. The love of house music was instilled in me from a young age and at a time when most of my friends were into trance music, I just couldn't get enough of the deep soulful stuff. I was too young to venture out to clubs like More, where house music was getting its much needed praise, so I had to enjoy it in the comfort of my room aka Club Duvet! Then a defining moment in my life took place, I was introduced to Deluxe! It was around the year 2003/2004 (my memory fails me now) when I first stepped foot into this iconic establishment and might I add it blew my mind away, so much so I had to go every chance I had.

Eventually and era had to come to an end and the closing of the club was a bitter pill to swallow, but now another opportunity has arose. So all you Deluxe Headz it's to relive those moments and let us all go back home, The Home of House!

History lesson: 

Deluxe was situated in the heart of Cape Town’s Long Street entertainment district. The club occupied two levels of Unity House which is on the corner of Long and Longmarket streets. Unity House has a rich heritage and is one of the oldest buildings on the popular Cape Town strip. The club had developed a cult following and a reputation throughout South Africa as the House music venue of choice for both local and international patrons and performers. The club is home to some of the biggest house event brands including Soul Revolution, Funky Buddha, Tiger Tunes and Lightly Salted to name but a few.

Logo and Name:

The red circle which very few people know is a deformed japanese flag "the rising sun" and the word Deluxe which is french "of special elegance, sumptuousness, or fineness; high or highest in quality, luxury, etc."

Now for one night only we get to relive those moments.
