I've never like facial hair, on both males and females. I think this is why my husband decided to grow his beard... a hard prickly beard (thanks genetics for ruining my life).

It was terrible! Kissing him while his facial spikes pierce my skin leaving me to look like a red-faced spider monkey. Hugging him and getting stabbed in the neck at the same time confused how I should feel about physical affection. Lying next to him while he pricked my sensitive brain with his new best friend... the ginger-beard-man! I often fantasied about rubbing hair remover on his face while he slept but it didn't materialize because I prefer waxing him.

I was ready to make an appointment with a hypnotherapist to help me block out my husband's scary beard, yes I was afraid of his face!

My knight in shining armour arrived:

After just one week of using Karoo Beard Oil, his beard was softer than ever. I can safely say we can now live our lives as normal again (well, as normal as life can be with a beard).

Don't tell anyone, but I actually enjoy rubbing his silky smooth ginger facial hairs at night before I sleep.

Yes, ladies and gentleman, I am talking about none other than Dalin Oliver (he's a stand-up comedian for those of you who don’t know).

Our first encounter was at the Chilli Bar on a Thursday night. Dalin walked on stage full of confidence and entertained the crowd with is unique sense of humour. Now, about four years later, I watched Dalin perform at the Baxter Theatre in his one-man-stand-up-comedy-show: I Came, I Taught, I Left.

What an amazing experience it is to watch someone grow the way I’ve watched Dalin grow (yes, dude, I have been stalking you for quite some time). From a “hello, bye” guy to a hug and “howsit!” guy. Dalin has not let the fame get to his nose head.

The show is about Dalin’s life experiences and he is extremely descriptive in the way he explains his encounters with his friends, family, colleagues, learners and educators which makes the show quite intimate (the intimacy could be because of the venue setting).

I would recommend all educators to watch this show as a “you are not alone in the struggle” team-building. Everyone can relate to this show and have a good laugh at the same time (except home-schooled kids who won’t really understand). Dalin interacts with the crowd, so if you fancy yourself a joke(r) or just love being in the spotlight, book your tickets now!

I saw Stuart Taylor after the show and he looked at me and I looked at him thinking “I know you, I wrote about you… but you don’t even know I exist”

Dalin was kind enough to take me backstage for a short interview and to have a quick catch-up. I of course didn’t say five words to him – VersatileLyle did all the talking.

Four days before the J&B Met, Goldie arrived at my house, unannounced, to surprise me with two tickets to the Met as a pre-birthday pressie. Uhm… ok. Now what?

*drum-roll for my most asked question* “What must I wear?”

First thought: dress up as a bottle of J&B? Wear my clothes inside-out? Wear my clothes back-to-front? Second (and better) thought: beg and borrow.

Some people spend a fortune on an outfit for this glamorous event. Total cost of my outfit = R200 for shoes, which by the way, was not bought for this particular occasion.

The J&B Met is definitely an event I would like to attend on an annual basis hint hint. There’s so much to see and do – besides watching the horses compete for first prize of course. Ladies and gentleman looking their absolute best all thanks to "Allota Effort" (yes, Miss Fagina got married to Mr Effort).
Some were classy, some filled their outfits to capacity and some could have just worn their undies. There are just so many people to look at.

I had the most awesome time with my main squeeze, VersatileLyle and we partied the night away with our two favourite carnivores... How do you like you steak again?

She's perfect. God's gift to my husband's ultimate fantasy. She has healthy hair, flawless skin, straight teeth and she's pretty average in height and weight. She's none other than Scarlett Johansson.

She also has an above average chest size.

I, on the other hand, have fuzzy hair, freckles, skew teeth and a below average chest size.


BUT (believe it or not) I weigh less than her... must be because of my small bosom.

It has come to my attention the you have taken a keen interest in my husband and I would like to inform you that I am neither saddened nor disappointed that he chose you over me.

VersatileLyle is a wonderful man. He is caring, kind, funny, creative, supportive, faithful, trustworthy, and honest. He will treat the lady in his life like a queen.

In closing, I hope you enjoy all of the pleasures that togetherness brings in life. May your life hereafter be filled with happiness and delight.
