After Wayde van Niekerk's thrilling win at the Rio Olympics, Shalk Bezuidenhout, South African comedian and budding athlete decided to try and emulate the World Record holder's feat (and feet).
Was Shalkie really ready for this mammoth task?
Let's see how he does.
Well done Shalk you did you best and that's all that matters. To South Africa's newest hero, Wayde van Niekerk, well done on all your achievements.
Thanks to Netwerk24 for giving us this brilliantly put together piece of watching pleasure, you deserve GOLD!
They don’t have a mountain or an ocean (I know… I sound like a typical Capetonian) and even though the scenery isn’t quite what I’m used to, the people make up for it. Beautiful women, cars, buildings and friendly faces (except on the road of course). After hearing stories from my fellow Capetonians, I expected the worst from JHB, however, I only got the best. It was as if the JHB Daily newspaper wrote a front page article notifying the good people of JHB that I’ll be coming to town and everyone is to be on their best behaviour. I spent most of Youth Day 2016 in Soweto (Watch video). As expected, there was a lot of youth. All of them acknowledging what happened in 1976, appreciating the sacrifices which were made to make South Africa a better place for today’s youth.
JHB’s vibe is so chilled (compared to Cape Town). People don’t feel the need to “be better” or “look better” than the next person – like that chick at Cape Town International Airportgiving me vuil-kuiker before our departure. People are free to play in the fountain at Mall of Africa, they can leave empty beer bottles in the road (as long as it’s on the white line) – which is sad because you can get money if you return the empty bottle.

I was blown away at Goliath Comedy Club. You know that place right? It’s the one where the hostess pulls out your seat for you, asks if the view is to your satisfaction, shows you where the bathrooms are and points out where the bars are situated, very important to do that.
Does this need a caption?
The only negative thing I can say about JHB, in my experience, is that travelling is a bitch! You literally have to use the loo before you leave and, also, please remember to pack in padkos.
One last thing…
I was approached by two beggers during my stay in JHB compared to the eight who approach me on the daily in Cape Town.
Who here can safely say that they have visited Soweto? Who can say they have visited Soweto on Youth Day? Who can say they have been to The Hector Pieterson Memorial?
The 16th June 2016 my team and I will finally be able to say we did and what an experience we are in for. We will be on a journey of epic proportions taking in the sights and sounds that will no doubt be resonating through the streets of Soweto. We will endeavour to learn as much as we can about this historical place and find out how the young people of yesteryear helped shape the future as we know it today.
Our official logo
They rose up 40 years ago to stand up against the apartheid regime and we will be there to find out how the young people of today have benefited 40 years on from the heroics of the youth of '76.
A short documentary will be shot by my team and I and we will go LIVE via Facebook (time to be confirmed) to bring you some of the action. So be sure to connect with me via my social media channels and be apart of our journey as we take a look back into our young democracy's history and how the youth of 2016 sees the future of the Republic of South Africa.
If you would like to donate to help fund our journey please feel free to do so.

YOUNGSTA CPT just dropped his latest music video to the track the Top 10 List, and the vid is on FIRE!
YOUNGSTA CPT - TOP TEN LIST (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) 18VL
Dropping names of some of SA's biggest Hip Hop artists, asking the questions as to who really deserves to be in the TOP 10 List. But name dropping isn't what he's all about, it's about putting Cape Town on the map and showcasing the talent that Cape Town has.
So "Fuck the TOP 10 list my number is 021" next month myself and my crew will be going up to Jozi for our "Youth Day Special" and I think I'll be posing the question to some Jozi cats, "Have you heard the name Youngsta?!"
Cape Town music supporter starts a podcast, for the love of local music
The MashUp is a music based podcast which focuses on the appreciation of music, particularly from South Africa. Hosted by Shakirah_Sky, recorded by Hiperdelic, the podcast aims to represent the unheard voice of artists by researching issues within the South African music industry, interviewing professionals and having an open flow of communication between artists, listeners and The MashUp. All while playing some dope local tracks.

Our goal is to create exposure for local music and to one day open up spaces where music can be appreciated by consumers and artists alike. The podcast is not genre specific, and encourages feedback. “I just started collecting music by local musicians and wanted to find a way to share it, I felt that there wasn’t a big enough platform for local artists so I took my love for music and now I’m trying to create a platform” says host, Shakirah Sky.
This week’s episode is all about the beat head, The MashUp talks about Cape Town’s latest and hottest beat showcase at Fiction, Audio Input, and also feature music by many local producers and MCs.
Towards the end of 2015 I had the opportunity to do a review of the OPEL ADAM JAM XTREME PACK and here are my views on this lovely piece of machinery.
The new Opel ADAM is much more than a car - it’s a game changer! It redefines self-expression by letting you customise it to match you and your world. With so many possibilities, it’s undeniably unique in so many ways.
This brand new vehicle comes as a 3-door, 4-seat hatchback equipped with enough gadgets to drive any game changer to their knees. The powerful, image-focused, non-retro design makes a statement as bold as you are.
This fun little vehicle is one of the latest offerings from Opel in the small passenger vehicle segment and from the looks of it, it was designed with the purpose of rivaling the likes of the Fiat 500, Citroen DS3 and Mini Cooper. Now as I said before I had the privilege of driving this beauty for a bit and when I decided to drive up to Worcester in the Western Cape, all that was left to be said was, Amazing.
The handling was impressive, the 1.0L turbo engine had no trouble towering up and around the slopes of the Du Toitskloof pass and it sliced through the wind with ease (for a smaller vehicle I was expecting the wind to really give it a run for its money but it performed well) Aerodynamics check!
The Adam Jam has an awesome little engine which pushes out 85kw and around 170 Nm of torque which really complements the size of the vehicle. The drive is exceptional but enough about that, its the designs that has got everyone talking. Well the reason for this is that it has so many choices on offer so you can customize it to the way you would want it to look and feel.
You have the choice of 8 different paint colours, funky interior roof linings, various dashboard designs and colours, unique coloured roof, seat trimmings etc, you have the freedom to personalise it to your own style.
We could even go as far as saying that this car is definitely VERSATILE!
