In all honesty it has been some time since my last visit to the Cape Town Comedy Club, but as a self proclaimed, "Friend of Comedy" I can safely say that a trip to the club, will surely leave you with long-laughing (lasting) memories.

Tons of laughter mixed in with some good food and drinks, ambient lighting and crowd interaction is but a mere taste of what can be expected and this week is no different.

He might be huge, he might be massive, he might be strong but in reality Frank is a real softy. Frank has a keen ear for classical music and loves walking around with his headphones on. Only problem Frank has is that he constantly has to purchase new headphones. You see Frank has a bit of a huge ear problem but that hasn't stopped him from being awesome. Frank also loves sipping on cocktails down at the nearest watering-hole. Frank is one of the coolest elephants around.

The King of the Jungle has always had a keen eye for all things fashion and when he stumbled upon the aFreaka Clothing range he just could not contain his excitement.

He immediately ordered his royal subjects to get the designers over at aFreaka to design a onesie fit for a king and the result made the king rejoice!

This is Arnold, he is an aFreaka brand ambassador (or so he is led to believe he is actually just a logo but shhhh), he is also fond of roaming around on open plains, he loves reading old Archie comic books and most importantly he is a buffalo.

Now that we know who Arnold is who is aFreaka?

The team consists of Ole and Josh. Ole is the company's founder and creative mind behind many of our designs. Some of you will have met Ole at music festivals where he has been representing aFREAKa and showcasing our South African onesie range, and many of you will have already chatted to him via our various social media platforms. Also part of the team is Josh who is responsible for running the shop, sourcing & sales. aFREAKa was launched in 2011 and has established itself as the premium supplier of onesies in South Africa.

All of this week I will be featuring the Big 5 animals which represent aFREAKa Clothing, which for the most part of their existence have been known primarily for their awesome onesie range. They have more than just onesies on offer and with summer on the way they have some cool caps and vests to keep you cool on those hot days. So let's make this summer an #aFreakaSummer!

Where it all began...

In 2011 aFREAKa's founder, Ole, had an animal costume made for himself before heading on a road trip (a black cat). He spent each day (and night) in his animal onesie, driving, shopping, fishing, hiking and realised how amazingly comfortable (and practical) this onesie actually was. What was a little surprising at first was the overwhelming response from onlookers, who showed a keen interest in the animal suits. When more and more started asking where one could buy these in South Africa, the idea for aFREAKa Clothing was born.

Who is the Freak?

The idea behind aFREAKa and our philosophy is that everybody should be able to be whatever they want to be, even if only for a short while. He has the ears of a rabbit, the horn of a rhino, the tail of a pig and the feet of an elephant. He is a little bit of everything, perhaps just like you; perhaps just like us. The 2nd prize in The "Versatile Lyle" Chronicles birthday month we giving away an album which got me digging hip hop again all those years ago!

The album I'm referring to is Dr. Dre's second studio album "Chronic 2001"



History:


2001 is the second studio album by American hip hop artist Dr. Dre, released November 16, 1999 on Interscope Records. Recording sessions for the album took place during 1997 to 1999, and production was handled by Dr. Dre, Mel-Man, and Lord Finesse. It is the follow-up to Dr. Dre's debut album The Chronic (1992) and features several guest contributions from rappers such as Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, and Eminem. 2001 exhibits an expansion on his debut's G-funk sound and contains gangsta rap themes such as violence, promiscuity, drug use, street gangs, and crime.

The album debuted at number two on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, selling 516,000 copies in its first week. It produced three singles that attained chart success and has been certified sextuple platinum in sales by the RIAA after sales of six million copies in the United States. Despite mixed criticism toward its gangster-themed lyrics, 2001 received generally positive reviews from most music critics. The album has been credited by music writers with revitalizing the West Coast hip hop scene after years of obscurity, while showing that Dr. Dre could remain prominent with a new generation of listeners.
